Undertake MSc studies focused on the characterisation and functional analysis of microbial communities relevant to the approved research project,
Participate in the planning, implementation, and coordination of microbiological experiments, including sample collection, processing, and storage,
Conduct laboratory-based microbiological and molecular analyses (e.g. DNA extraction, PCR, amplicon sequencing, metagenomics) and assist with accurate data capturing,
Perform bioinformatics and statistical analyses for microbial community profiling and functional interpretation,
Contribute to research activities by providing technical and scientific support to supervisors and research staff,
Engage with relevant stakeholders and collaborators within affiliated research projects
Compile monthly progress reports detailing experimental progress, data outputs, and preliminary findings,
Prepare scientific outputs, including presentations, the MSc dissertation, and contributions to peer-reviewed publications where applicable.
An Honours degree (or equivalent) in Microbiology, Animal Science, Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, and Food Science.
A strong academic record.
Foundational knowledge of microbiology, molecular biology, or microbial ecology.
Familiarity with DNA-based techniques and microbial data analysis will be an advantage.
Interest in animal nutrition, feed safety, or agricultural by-product utilisation.
Basic competence in statistical analysis and data handling.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.
A valid driving license will be an advantage.
