-We have an exciting opportunity for a Mine Planning Engineer who will support the Medium Term mine planning Engineer to deliver medium term mine plans for Sishen Mine. Technical Challenges. Kumba Iron Ore We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects xe2x80x93 exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.


-As our Mine Planning Engineer some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: Development of Mine Operating plan (MOP) focusing on:

• Ensuring there is alignment between the STP and the BP
• Identifying and testing opportunities to quantify their benefit over the medium term (12 month)
• Should remedial actions/steps be needed to get back to BP, to highlight these early in advance and ensuring they are implemented.
• Identifying possible challenges in advance so that solutions can be identified and tested before these challenges realize.

Provide technical expertise and input into:

• The Short-Term Planning (STP) ensuring there is alignment with the BP
• MAD sequence and pushback deployment strategy
• Plant Technical Team ensuring alignment with regards to qualities and product expectations.
• HME modelling requirements.
• 12 month dump and stockpile plan requirements
• Any additional ad-hoc requirements with regards to permitting, licensing etc.

Compliance

• Meet mining objectives and conform to KIO mining standards, geotechnical and operational physical standards to ensure safe mining operations within legislative guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives to enhance mining processes.
• Manage internal and external relations, to ensure that business needs are met.

This role is in the Long Term Mine Planning on a band 6 level reporting to the Section Manager Long Term Planning

Qualifications
-You will be required to have the following:

• BEng or BTech xe2x80x93 Mining Engineering
• Driverxe2x80x99s Licence: Code B (Light Vehicle)
• 3 Years Operational experience in Open Cast Mine Planning and related operations of which some of this experience should be in planning.
• Good understanding of the mine value chain and affected stakeholders.
• Experience in Short to Medium term plan development process would be advantageous.
• OPMS/RPM & Deswik planning software experience would be advantageous.
