Role Description

The main responsibility of this role is to ensure that the secondary support crews execute work effectively from a current and future best practice perspective.

Education and Experience Requirements

Grade 12.

Mine Overseer Certificate or Mine Managers Certificate

Blasting Certificate

Minimum of 10 years` experience in Shaft logistics and operations of which 5 years must be in a Shift Supervisor/ Shaft Foreman position in the mining industry.

Proven experience in managing the logistics and associated responsibilities for shafts will be advantageous.

Previous Mine Overseer experience in secondary support.

Job Requirements

Co-ordinate maintenance and monitor equipment availability to ensure adherence to production targets.

Ensure legal compliance with regards to all work being done secondary support, reclamation, equipping of section, rails.

Review and introduce mining best practices to enhance performance efficiencies over long term.

Do monthly planning plans, schedules and attend planning meetings.

Investigating incidents/accidents and property damage.

Identifying senior employees suitable for further training.

Exceptional reallocation of labour.

Make judgement on cost damages and decide on a course of action, in conjunction with others

Responsible to perform preventative maintenance and scheduled legal inspections on equipment and machinery.

Ensuring production targets are met and maintained in line with the mine plan.

Arrange the transporting of material into different levels for the crews.

Support the overall operational management of the company.

Responsible to minimize down-time and evaluate risk (i.e. Root Cause Analysis) in area of responsibility.

Implement risk assessments, Safe work procedures and Planned Task Observations, review, monitor, train and implement all codes of practice, policies, procedures, risk assessments and standards and ensure all are in place for the effective management of safe working conditions in terms of related area of responsibilities and legal requirements.

Company Policy & Procedures Compliance: Takes cognisance of and adhere to Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation.

Manage and report non-compliance issues.

Engagement & Communication: Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the Engineering Function.

Responsible for the training and development of subordinates.

Determine schedules, assign work and manage the performance of assigned personnel to ensure the achievement of production targets.

Skills Required

Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in English

Sound planning, leading and organisational abilities

Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite

Good interpersonal management skills

Knowledge and understanding of the disciplinary procedures.

Sound Decision Making Skills

Valid Driver's Licence
