Requirements

Purpose of the role:

Reporting to the Maintenance Engineer, the incumbent will be responsible for corrective and preventative maintenance of electrical and mechanical installations and equipment. This includes general fitting and maintenance of mechanical components and electrical installations i.e. Pumps, Piping Systems, Bin Tippers, Conveyor Systems, Bottling/Packaging line, Coal Fired Boiler Fruit Sorting Machines, Electrical installations and other equipment associated with the production facility. The position involves the use of hands, power, welding, cutting and grinding tools, and the use of electrical tools and equipment. The incumbent will have 2 apprentices reporting into them.

Key Responsibilities:

Must have knowledge of machines, tools and equipment, including their designs, uses, repairs and maintenance. Must be able to identify, implement and maintain health and safety procedures in the workplace. Must be able to perform pre-work assessments, use correct tolls and equipment to safely carry out tasks. Must have experience on fitting of mechanical components as well as their associated maintenance including greasing, monitoring, performing adjustments, cutting, fitting and installation. Have better understanding of machinery, conveyor systems, pumps and productions systems and their associated safety systems.

Qualifications:

Matric N3 and above Millwright Trade Certificate (Qualification).

Experience:

+3 years' post trade experience in maintenance of Electrical and Mechanical production and packing equipment, which may include conveyor systems, pumps, boilers, bottling packaging line, and pumping systems, pipes, as well as low voltage electrical installations. Experience in repairs and maintenance of machinery within a production environment. Experience in supervising semi-skilled assistant(s) and ensure that they perform quality and cost-effective corrective and preventive maintenance solutions essential Must have valid driver's license.

Behavioural Competencies:

Good communication skills must be able to communicate with a range of people i.e. contractors, production personnel, public and workforce. Demonstrate the ability to interpret technical and electrical drawings and communicate with Engineers and Clients. Must be able to perform pre-work assessments, use correct tools and equipment to safely carry tasks. Troubleshooting of Electrical and Mechanical equipment, determining causes of operating errors and recommend/implement inputs and solutions. Have good analytical skills, strong leader and be able to manage resources. Must be able to work in a structured way under pressure and wellness to work overtime. Must have integrity, initiative, energy and drive. You must be physically, medically and mentally fit to carry out the work.

Must be a team player and leader.
