The successful candidate will be required to perform troubleshooting / fault-finding and repair / maintain electrical and mechanical equipment efficiently and effectively in accordance with specifications meeting, agreed output and quality targets by:
Carrying out root cause analysis on recurring problems of machine control systems with a multi-disciplined team to prepare fault finding logs / tables from root cause problem solving and drive the implementation of the agreed upon changes and innovations.
Providing customer support and education, working with users to identify needs, determine source of problem and to provide information on product use.
Ensuring effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders to support decision making for the business.
Compiling service reports and ensuring instrumentation history data is up to date.
Liaising with clients regarding any critical instrumentation issues and ensuring that the problems are resolved.
Liaising with clients on a regular basis to appraise them of the status and condition of their installations as well as to assist them with future repairs and moderations.
Training customers on the use of the software and equipment.
Installing, servicing and validating a range of equipment.
Ordering parts and spares as required.
Willingness to do mechanical and refrigeration work.
Willingness to do mechanical and electrical standby 2 weeks per month.
Must be able to work shifts and be available on callouts and standby.
Any other legitimate activity as required by the company.
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
A minimum N3 Electrical / Mechanical Engineering studies (Millwright) with an accredited Trade Test
OR
a dual trade qualification in electrical & mechanical.
A minimum of 3 years in an Automation/instrumentation environment.
Attention to detail.
Must have very strong knowledge of instrumentation.
Knowledge of refrigeration will be advantageous.
Electronic drawing knowledge.
Understand Technical Procedures.
Drives and control systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills is essential.
Computer literacy with general experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
Mentoring apprentices.
Driver's license with own transport.
