Our client a specialist Leather goods manufacturer based in Pinetown requires the services of a Qualified Millwright (Red Seal) to join the manufacturing team
Purpose of the Role:
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on problem solver with the ability to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain machinery across the factory.
This role also involves preventive maintenance planning, building/ facilities upkeep, and supervising mechanics to ensure smooth production and minimal downtime.
Role: Trade Test -Millwright (Red Seal)
Location: Pinetown - Durban SA
Industry: Leather - Manufacturing
Qualification:

• Trade-Tested Millwright (Red Seal essential).
• 5+ years' experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Experience managing or mentoring junior staff.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Safety-conscious and reliable under pressure.

Experience:

• Experience in footwear, textiles, or similar fast-paced production environments.
• Welding, fabrication, or light construction skills.
• Basic knowledge of PLCs or automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive and reactive maintenance on all production machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
• Inspect machines and identify potential maintenance issues before breakdowns.
• Supervise and support factory mechanics, ensuring tasks are completed safely and correctly.
• Lead and participate in building and facilities maintenance projects.
• Keep accurate maintenance logs, job cards, and spare parts records.
• Ensure housekeeping and safety standards are maintained in all work areas.
• Collaborate with production and management to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
• Liaise with external contractors and suppliers when required.
