Octane Marketing is looking for a

Mid-Level Web Designer

to join our in-office team in Tokai. This role is ideal for a creative designer with a strong understanding of user experience and visual design, who knows how to create beautiful, high-performing websites using WordPress. You'll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining visually appealing, user-friendly websites across our group of brands. The role focuses on UX and UI design, ensuring every site is easy to navigate, aligned with each brand's identity, and optimised for performance and conversions. You'll work closely with the design, creative, and operations teams to deliver high-quality digital experiences that bring brand strategies to life.

Responsibilities:

Design, build, and maintain visually appealing, user-friendly websites using WordPress and page builders such as Elementor Deliver seamless user experiences and modern, effective layouts that clearly communicate each brand's message Manage and customise WordPress plugins to enhance site functionality and ensure accurate, relevant, and well-organised content Test websites across browsers and devices to ensure responsive design and optimal performance Optimise site speed and user flow for the best possible experience Perform regular website updates, backups, and maintenance while monitoring for vulnerabilities and implementing basic security measures Track and analyse website performance metrics, including traffic, engagement, and conversion rates, and make data-informed improvements Apply SEO best practices to improve visibility, site structure, and on-page content Collaborate with internal teams to interpret briefs, support digital campaigns, and ensure all websites align with marketing and business goals


3-5 years' experience in web design, ideally within a marketing, creative, or digital agency environment Tertiary qualification in Web Design, Digital Media, or a related field Proven experience designing and maintaining WordPress websites Strong understanding of UX/UI design principles and responsive design Knowledge of SEO, web analytics, and website optimisation techniques Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript (advantageous but not required) Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Figma Strong visual design sense and attention to detail Excellent organisational and communication skills Experience using Jira Software (advantageous) Ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast-paced environment Must be able to work full-time, on-site in Tokai, Cape Town
