Job Description
Social Places is an award-winning marketing technology agency based in Century, Cape Town. We are looking for a new internal candidate that is an energetic, smart developer to add to our expanding team to work on our proprietary location-based marketing and review software. The development is primarily a Symfony project with a Vue front end – so Symfony or PHP and Vue or another JavaScript front end experience is a definite bonus.
Duties:
- Applicants will work primarily in PHP, MySQL and Vue.js
- Creating back-end software supported by frontend views and components, or APIs and web services
- Pulling reports and writing reporting scripts for databases
- Securing and managing data
- Integrate with various third-party platforms
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of PHP, MySQL and a JavaScript based front end frameworks
- Knowledge and experience in Symfony and Vue are a definite plus.
- Ability to write MySQL queries, views and stored procedures
- Comfortable with Git repository management
- Previous experience working with and implementing third party platform API integrations
- Degree or Higher qualification in IT
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
- PHP working experience (non-negotiable)
- JavaScript based front end framework working experience (non-negotiable)
- HTML, CSS, SASS, etc. experience
- Attention to detail, self- and time-management is a must
- Must be willing to expand your knowledge at a rapid pace and be open to being exposed to many new areas of IT/Development which will be very challenging

- Suggesting new technologies and methodologies to keep up with the rapidly evolving world of online
- Ability to produce a completed project from start to finish based on scope and design documents
- Adaptable to project coding standards and requirements
