Job Summary
Metrology Technician (Eastern Cape) Engineering/Technical
Eastern Cape - South Africa
ENVIRONMENT:
A Supplier of innovative customized products seeks an experienced Metrology Technician to join its Eastern Cape Division. You will conduct dimensional measurement of vehicle components to ensure conformity to drawing specification while providing dimensional analysis and problem-solving ability to successfully resolve production concerns and improve the overall product quality. The ideal candidate will require a National Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical or Mechatronics with 5 years Metrology measuring experience (Tactile or Optical) & 5 years measuring software experience (PC-Dmis, GOM, Polyworks). You will also need Offline and teaching programming experience of CMM facilities, working knowledge of CAD software (Catia Preferable), a solid understanding of CMM maintenance and TPM, be able to interpret technical drawings and have an understanding of the vehicle manufacturing process (Press Shop, Body Shop, Assembly, Purchase parts manufacturing).
DUTIES:

• Conduct dimensional measurement of vehicle components to ensure conformity to drawing specification.
• Conduct detailed measurement and analysis to aid part approval process of Internal and External supplier parts.
• Provide dimensional analysis and problem-solving ability to successfully resolve production concerns and improve the overall product quality.
• Conduct dimensional approval of vehicle components to ensure the successful release of components at the correct quality levels at relevant PEP milestones.
• Provide support to external supplier base to ensure correct Dimensional Metrology methods and principes are applied to ISO/VDA requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications -

• National Diploma: Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics.

Experience/Skills -

• Have a minimum of 5 years Metrology measuring experience (Tactile or Optical).
• Have a minimum of 5 years measuring software experience (PC-Dmis, GOM, Polyworks).
• Offline and teaching programming experience of CMM facilities.
• Advanced computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office - Excel, PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of CAD software (Catia Preferable).
• Working understanding of CMM maintenance and TPM.
• Interpretation of Technical drawings.
• Design and building of measuring fixtures.
• Sound understanding of the vehicle manufacturing process (Press Shop, Body Shop, Assembly, Purchase parts manufacturing).
