Imperium Commodity Search are working with a family-owned metals & minerals trading company headquartered in Switzerland, currently looking for an experienced plant operator with a focus on Chrome / Chrome Ore to join their expanding team in South Africa and manage all operations of a recently purchased Chrome Plant - the ideal candidate will have strong experience in a management position at a plant and experience handling the entire physical supply chain from mine to end user in African markets.
Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for handling all physical operations for the plant and managing entire supply chain from start to finish across Africa and further destination markets.
• Working closely with Traders / Sales team to ensure all physical trades across bulk materials are executed efficiently and timely.
• Budget preparation, forecasting & control
• Drafting and executing contracts for the trading desk if / where needed
• Quality control and management of entire plant and all associated staff
• Handle relations with Banks / financial institutes / 3rd Parties in relation to letters of credit (LC's).
• Work closely with Internal Back office and Finance teams to ensure all operations task are completed compliantly and effectively.
• Manage relationships with external shipping agencies, charterers, logistics firms, End Users and Customers across all Products.
• Ensure best practice for all trade documentations adhering to different regulations and logistical Scenarios across various countries / regions.
• Train, manage, lead and advise employees

Requirements:

• Minimum 10 years' experience working within an operating metallurgical plant, ideally with 5 years at management level / in leadership position and in Chrome
• A thorough knowledge of mineral processing principles, as related to chrome ore processing, is essential
• Knowledge of government regulations relating to metallurgical plants and environmental issues is required.
• Proven track record working within an international trading company is a plus
• Understanding relevant documentation and compliance requirements for the Commodity sector.
• Willing to work as part of a smaller, collaborative team
• Fluent in English, additional languages a bonus (Spanish, French, Mandarin)
