Purpose of the Job



To process all blood requests and all related queries sufficiently and effectively, and to perform other general duties as specified by the Manager - Blood Bank / Supervisor - Blood Bank.

Job description

Perform Blood Bank technical procedures, which include patient sample testing, preparation, and issuing of blood products according to Work Instructions; Check and reconcile patient information provided against the request form, prepared product, computer data, and issue documents to ensure that the correct product is issued to the correct patient. Coordinate processes with reference to communication, checks, queries, document control, and record keeping.

Minimum Requirements

Matric National Diploma in Biomedical Technology/ Medical Technician Certificate Registered with HPCSA in Blood Transfusion Computer literate The working hours are variable, shift work is required, with weekend work and call-outs.

A combination of the following skills, knowledge, and attributes is required:

Good interpersonal skills Have a friendly disposition and willingness to "go the extra mile." Accuracy in data collection Must be able to work as part of a team
