JOB SUMMARY

Must be registered with HPCSA as a Clinpath Medical Technician to perform and analyze laboratory samples in order to provide results with efficient TAT and Acceptable Quality

MINIMUM CRITERIA REQUIRED

Registration in relevant discipline with HPCSA (Clinical Pathology)

EXPERIENCE

Min 2 years Clinpath Experience Able to work independently night shift, weekends and public holidays

RELEVANT JOB KNOWLEDGE

Accreditation requirement - SANAS ISO 15189 Laboratory information systems
Laboratory standards operating procedures and processes

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Ensures the implementation of service levels and quality standards in accordance with standard operating procedures and service level agreements. Working under Supervision of a Pathologist / Medical Technologist, performs diagnostic testing procedures on instrumentation. Work overtime planned or unplanned as per operational requirements including weekends and public holiday if needed. Assists the laboratory manager to ensure a safe working environment in accordance with relevant legislation and all safety protocols. This includes the on-going maintenance of quality control standards, adherence to infection control measures, correct disposal of bio-hazardous waste and project management (as per delegated responsibilities) of the preparation process for internal and external quality control audits. Assists the laboratory manager to ensure that incidents and instrument failures are reported by laboratory staff, thereby ensuring compliance with relevant organisational policy and laboratory standard operating procedures. Adheres to professional conduct requirements in line with organizational policy and relevant professional body ethical standards.
