A reputed medical specialist practice is seeking a warm, professional, and highly organised Medical Receptionist to join their team. Based at their practice, this front-line role is key to ensuring a smooth patient experience and the efficient operation of the day-to-day administrative processes. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist patients in a courteous and professional manner
Answer incoming calls and respond to patient queries
Manage appointment bookings, confirmations, and cancellations
Maintain and update patient records and electronic files
Prepare documentation and ensure all required paperwork is completed
Process billing, collect payments, and assist with medical aid submissions
Liaise with hospitals, laboratories, referring doctors, and medical aid providers
Ensure the reception and waiting area are clean, calm, and welcoming
Provide administrative support to the medical specialist as required
Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with data protection regulations
Requirements
Minimum 2 years' experience as a medical receptionist (experience with a specialist is advantageous)
Matric certificate or equivalent qualification
Strong administrative skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding of medical aid processes and terminology
Professional, well-groomed, and friendly demeanour
Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure
