Job Description

The Mechatronic Engineer is a mid-level role for engineering personnel at Global Riser. The position encompasses a fast-track program of knowledge and performance with regards to O?shore Drilling Riser and associated well control equipment as well as Global Riser's systems and processes. He/ she will be an enthusiastic, e?cient, committed individual with a strong background in mechanical, electrical, electronic and control systems design, as well as project management, manufacturing and practical work experience. The employee will interact with Customers, Suppliers, Engineers, Technicians, Management and Consultants. The employee will give guidance and expert advice to others in the department. The employee will also be expected to work unsupervised and will be required to supervise other GR personnel.

Responsibilities:

Oversee multiple projects, including your own and provide guidance. Mentor junior engineers and technicians. Initially, shadow Mechanical Engineers, Field Service Technicians and Subsea Engineers to gain a fundamental understanding of the design, operation, inspection and repair of Capital Drilling Equipment as well as all the processes, procedures, etc. of the Company. Conduct in-house design and development of mechatronic systems, products and components, which will be the primary function within the role (+/-70%). This will typically include 3D CAD modelling using SolidWorks, Detailed Manufacturing Drawings, Wiring Diagrams, P&ID's, BOM's, QCP's, Works Instructions, Testing and Validation procedures, Manuals, and vendor management during fabrication stage. Manage Projects (Service, Commission, Repair, Manufacture, Design etc.), which will be the secondary function within the role (+/-30%) from inception through to delivery, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. This will include, but will not be limited to quotation, project execution, procurement, logistics, resource planning, scheduling, reporting, inspection report review & dispositions, databook generation and submission, oversight, manufacture, quality control and project closeout. Giving expert technical advice to Technicians and coaching new Technicians. Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QC policies, procedures and speci?cations. Detailed reporting and feedback to Management and the Customer on the progress of project. Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions; draft new procedures as required. Ensure safe work practices are being adhered to at all times.

Skills:

The following are the minimum skills required to perform the function:

An advanced knowledge of the MS O?ce suite (especially Word, Excel, Teams). Excellent written communicator (email, technical report writing, WhatsApp etc.). Excellent level of English, both written and verbal. Sound understanding of 3D CAD packages, in particular SolidWorks would be advantageous. Sound understanding of Engineering Calculations Software, in particular Mathcad, MATLAB or similar would be advantageous. Understanding of API and Class Rules (ABS & DNV) in respect of design and manufacture would be advantageous. Sound understanding of fabrication, boiler making/welding, precision machining. Sound understanding of control systems, PLC's, HMI's, sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces. Excellent organizational, planning & time management skills.

Quali?cations:

Mechatronic Engineering Degree.

Experience:

Minimum three years' experience in a relatable engineering environment.
