Mechanical Team Leader | Simuma Plant | South Coast
A job opportunity has arisen at Simuma Plant, in the Mechanical Engineering Department for a Mechanical Team Leader. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliable, efficient, safe, and cost-effective operation of all mechanical equipment and systems across the plant. Responsibilities span design, installation, operation, maintenance, reliability improvement, and project execution, with emphasis on minimizing downtime and lifecycle cost while meeting production targets and safety/environmental standards
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Plant and Equipment Availability Management - manage the execution of maintenance activities to maximise the availability and reliability of plant and equipment.
Maintenance Policy Execution - execution of maintenance policy and compliance with maintenance standards.
People Management and Development - employee performance is managed, and performance reviews are conducted regularly. Ensure that performance improvement and training plans are documented for all subordinate positions, and that direct reports are trained and developed to meet the required competencies of the job on an ongoing basis.
Budget - prepare and manage the budget in line with companies financial policies and procedures.
SHEQ - manage and support SHEQ initiatives to achieve company SHEQ objectives. Build commitments to sustain safety improvements.
Manage and improve the safety standards at the Simuma operations and ensure compliance with company policies and other related legislation.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
ESSENTIAL:
Completed Matric.
Minimum of N4 Certificate (preferably in the Fitting Trade).
Mechanical Trade Test.
3 years' similar experience in a heavy industrial environment (Must have supervisory and leadership experience).
At least 4 years' experience as a qualified artisan.
SAP MRP System experience.
Construction, Cement, or Engineering industry experience is essential.
ADVANTAGEOUS:
N5/N6 Certificate (preferably in the Fitting Trade).
SAQA Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
5 years' experience in a heavy industrial environment (Must have supervisory and leadership experience).
SAP MRP System certification.
Leadership training.
People management experience.
A valid driver's license and own reliable transport.
CORE TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
Sound knowledge of fitting, machining, boiler making, and welding trades.
Must have extensive experience in maintenance of conveying equipment, gearboxes, fans, compressors, blowers, drives, crushers, and rigging equipment.
Excellent communication and numeracy skills.
Highly computer literate (ERP/MRO/CMMS/MS Office).
