Job Description


Our client is looking for a vibrant Mechanical Reliability Engineer for their plant. Position is based in Cape Town.

MAIN PURPOSE:
To manage and lead the provision of engineering services within the plant and to ensure the application of company standards and strategy to the delivery of strategic engineering projects, maintenance of plants and equipment, adherence to governance, compliance and statutory requirements, and to provide specialist engineering advice to production, safety and technical areas.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execution of strategic engineering projects and change management.
  • Support Engineering team to plan and execute successful maintenance shutdowns
  • Lead efforts to ensure continuous business improvement and technical support.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health and environment standards (appointment at GMR2(7))
  • Ensure compliance with governance, procedures and that all legal registers are up to date
  • Ensure the safety of all the equipment (safety guards - OHSAct) and surrounding buildings (SANS10400)
  • People management of external contractors and professional services.
  • OPEX spending to be in line with chosen strategy
  • Identify, apply and execute Mechanical & Civil CAPEX expenses
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source and procure equipment and spare parts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement mechanical systems and components for tissue paper production.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis and evaluation of existing machinery, identifying areas for improvement and recommending appropriate modifications or develop & implement effective maintenance strategies
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to production teams, addressing mechanical issues and troubleshooting problems as they arise.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors Degree or Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • GCC will be advantageous
KNOWLEDGE AND WORKING EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of 5 years production and maintenance experience in a FMCG plant
  • Knowledge of the OHS Act & Regulations
  • Extensive knowledge of project management and stakeholder relations in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Knowledge and experience in hazard control and risk assessments
