A Westmead based hydraulics company is looking to recruit a Mechanical & Hydraulic Technician to join the team. This person will be responsible to carry out mechanical and hydraulic repairs, servicing, maintenance, and fault-finding on a wide range of industrial machinery and hydraulic components both in the workshop and at customer sites. The technician must deliver high-quality workmanship, maintain safety standards, and represent the company professionally on-site.

Ideal candidate

Excellent command of the English language Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Willingness to learn. Computer literacy and knowledge of excel and Sage would be advantageous. Attention to detail. Customer oriented Pleasant demeanor Self-motivated

Duties include but are not limited to:

Service, repair, and rebuild hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, power packs, and related components. Strip and assess hydraulic components for quotation purposes. Troubleshoot and diagnose hydraulic faults on machinery and equipment. Manufacture, replace, and test hydraulic hoses. Perform system testing, calibration, and quality control. Repair and maintain mechanical assemblies such as bearings, seals, shafts, couplings, gearboxes, and rotating equipment. Conduct mechanical fault-finding, stripping, and rebuilds. Perform preventative maintenance and general mechanical work as required. Attend breakdowns, carry out repairs, and perform system checks at customer sites. Provide accurate feedback and technical support to customers. Complete job cards, service reports, and assessments after each call-out. Strip, assess, and rebuild equipment in the workshop. Clean and prepare machinery and components during repairs. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace. Assist with inventory, parts handling, and tool care. Follow all company safety rules, procedures, and PPE requirements. Ensure safe operation of tools and equipment. Report hazards, defects, or incidents immediately. Provide assistance to team members when required. Carry out any additional tasks reasonably expected within the role (not limited to the above). Maintain professional behaviour when representing the company.
Minimum Requirements:

Minimum 3-5 years experience in the hydraulic industry (non-negotiable). Proven experience repairing hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, and power packs. Strong mechanical background (fitting, maintenance, repairs). Valid driver's licence. Ability to work independently on-site. Ability to diagnose hydraulic faults accurately. Willingness to do call-outs and occasional overtime.
Preferred (Advantageous):

Trade Test (Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Millwright, etc.) Experience with mobile or industrial hydraulic equipment Experience building or servicing power packs Understanding of hydraulic schematics
