Assemble, install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment and machinery.
Diagnose faults and perform corrective and preventative maintenance.
Fit, align, and test mechanical components and systems.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery (e.g., grinders, lathes, drills).
Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
Conduct inspections to ensure equipment meets safety and quality standards.
Replace defective parts such as bearings, gears, shafts, and seals.
Perform mechanical repairs on truck engines, transmissions, suspensions, and hydraulics.
Maintain accurate job cards, maintenance logs, and service records.
Adhere to workplace safety, lockout procedures, and ISO / OEM standards.
Assist in fabrication, welding, and machining as required.
Work independently or as part of a maintenance or assembly team.
Requirements:
Matric
Trade-tested Mechanical Fitter (Red Seal or equivalent).
Minimum 2-5 years mechanical fitting experience in industrial or workshop environments.
Solid experience working with heavy-duty trucks / diesel engines / fleet vehicles.
Ability to work with hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, pumps, and rotating equipment.
Ability to read engineering drawings and technical diagrams.
Valid driver's licence (Code 8/B required; Code 14 advantage for truck industry roles).
Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and perform breakdown standby when required.
Defence industry experience / security clearance is a strong advantage (understanding of military-grade equipment, disciplined environment, strict compliance).
Knowledge of safety standards such as OHS Act, PPE requirements, and risk protocols.
Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces and demanding environments.
