A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join our global client; the position will be in the Northern Cape. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and infrastructure across the project site.
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and review mechanical designs, specifications, and layouts for iron ore beneficiation and tailings recovery systems.
• Collaborate with EPCM contractors and vendors to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Oversee mechanical installation activities, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Support cold and hot commissioning of mechanical systems, including crushers, conveyors, pumps, and DMS units.
• Provide technical support during ramp-up and steady-state operations.
• Implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to optimize equipment reliability.
• Ensure all mechanical engineering activities comply with HSE regulations and company policies.
• Participate in risk assessments, HAZOPs, and safety audits.
• Identify opportunities for mechanical system optimization and cost reduction.
• Contribute to sustainability initiatives aligned with Vedanta's ESG goals.

Qualifications and Skills Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (BEng or BSc).
• Minimum 5 years' experience in mining or heavy industrial projects, preferably in iron ore or mineral processing.
• Proven experience in mechanical design, installation, and commissioning.
• Familiarity with DMS, magnetic separation, and tailing recovery systems is advantageous.
• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., SANS, ASME, ISO).
