Is this you? You're a curious and creative mechanical engineer who enjoys designing practical solutions for complex systems. You work well in a collaborative environment and thrive when faced with technical challenges. Your keen eye for detail and commitment to quality drive your passion for creating robust, production-ready designs. You're looking to contribute to meaningful international work, while maintaining a balanced lifestyle in South Africa.
What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it) You'll be designing advanced mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for global engineering projects. From 3D CAD modelling and design analysis to ensuring compliance with international standards, you'll contribute to a full spectrum of development from concept to manufacturing-ready outputs. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, improve existing designs, and integrate Design for Manufacturing principles into every solution you develop. All of this will be done from a dynamic office in Somerset West, working virtually with global teams.
Where you'll be doing it You'll be part of a South Africa-based engineering firm that delivers world-class design and development services for international clients in sectors such as propulsion systems, machine design, and complex product engineering. With a strong emphasis on technical innovation and collaboration, the team works on high-impact projects from their Cape-based office, connected virtually to counterparts in Europe.
What you'll need You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Marine, or related Engineering fields, with 2-5 years' experience in mechanical design. You're proficient in 3D CAD (NX preferred), have a solid grasp of materials, mechanical principles, and manufacturing processes. DFMA knowledge is important, and familiarity with maritime or industrial systems is a bonus. Most importantly, you're a team player who thrives in an international, multicultural setting.
What you'll get Enjoy the best of both worlds, exciting international work with a balanced South African lifestyle. Benefits include a year-end bonus, relocation support, paid training and development opportunities, flexible working, limited overtime, and potential travel to Europe.
