Job Description

A well established and reputable engineering company based in Paarl in need of a Mechanical Design Engineer for farming equipment that specializes in creating, developing, and improving agricultural machinery. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 - 5 years' design experience within the engineering industry.

You will be responsible for but not limited to:

Work according to Project Schedule - Working and managing your design time accordingly to the project schedule set out for each project

The design of machines relevant to the appropriate project at hand

Design according to the design recipe

Components for clients with regards to: warranty replacements, wear & tear, breakdowns, or pure direct sales of components. Individual is responsible for ordering / fabrication of the components and arranging for delivery to the client

General admin that must be done throughout the designing process

"Fault reports" - Excel sheet that reports mistakes made on a design and the impact on the fabrication / installation process

Follow up on orders - Follow up on whether your components submitted to the buyer via a MOR has been ordered / arrived etc.

Quality Control - Walking through the workshop 2 - 3 times a day to take a look at your jobs in fabrication process, ensuring the job is on the correct track

Follow up on Laser cutting- Constant communication to follow up on laser cut parts and ETA's of each job submitted. Also, giving feedback to the team regarding the process

Jigs Design - Designing a jig if the component/machine fits the following requirements:

A high number of the components / machines have to be made for a project

Repeatability of the job

Matric

B.Eng / B.Tech / National Diploma (Mechanical / Agricultural Engineering)

Previous experience within the engineering environment will be highly adv.

Computer Literacy MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), CAD, AutoCAD, Inventor & (CAM), and understanding of sheet metal and steel

Skills:

Excellent Afrikaans & English communication skills

Be detailed and organized team player with demonstrated delivery in high pressure situations

Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

A proactive and organized approach to work, capable of meeting tight deadlines

A team player who can also work independently, taking ownership of assigned tasks
