Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Paarden Eiland, Cape Town

Salary: Market related

Reporting to: Head of Design and Engineering

The company is design oriented and manufactures standard and customised product solutions for the architectural, rail, commercial and industrial industries. This is a rapidly growing and highly innovative business with a young and energetic team.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a

Mechanical Design Engineer

to join our Engineering Team. The purpose of your role is to effectively support the engineering team with creating and updating products. This includes generating concepts, producing technical drawings, building prototypes, product testing and completing the relevant documentation for sales and production handover.

Main Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

Design new light fittings/parts/assemblies to meet customer requirements 3D & 2D CAD outputs for fabrication/manufacturing Create ECON models for new and updated components on NAV Management/ordering new parts/samples Conduct product testing on samples/prototypes Assist the design team on the development of samples and new products Assist with the assembly of new products and providing feedback thereof to the necessary individuals Production assembly handover/training (basic assembly demonstrations) Product cost estimates Bill of Materials management Supporting Sales, Production and Procurement teams with general requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Industrial Design or Mechanical Engineering qualification Competent CAD experience (ideally Solid Works) Design & manufacturing experience, ideally with some electrical knowledge (electrical not essential) Product assembly processes (basic hand assembly, non-industrialized) Project management experience ERP system experiences (advantageous) Experience in Microsoft NAV (advantageous)
