COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

Our client, a manufacturer, supplier and installer of specialist equipment, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design and Cost Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate must have previous experience in the Mechanical Heating, Ventilation and HVAC field.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Read & understand total requirements for Tenders
• Assist in establishing a clientxe2x80x99s requirements and undertake feasibility studies
• Run cost analyses of the various types of work as a forerunner to tender preparation
• Select, price and source materials
• Identify commercial risks and help develop suitable responses
• Prepare the tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, with the Engineers and the client
• Liaise between site managers, project managers, site engineers and the client
• Advise on designs and drawings to align the requirements and installations to best practices
• Conduct debriefing meetings with team and Engineering Manager

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12
• Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 3-4 years industry specific experience within Mechanical Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning Engineering (HVAC) field
• Able to do HVAC design from first principles
• Construction estimating experience
• Thorough knowledge of all Mechanical practices, methods, equipment, materials, and tools
• Able to do costing for approval by Project Manager and Engineering Manager based on designs
• Able to read designs and produce and prepare draft designs in accordance with required specifications, including Draughting
• Understanding of Lab Equipment I.e., Biological Safety Cabinets, Fume hoods, Laminar Flows advantageous
• Problem solving skill
• Ability to read and interpret plans, sketches, drawings
• Good communication skills: Fluent in English
• Ability to provide verbal and/or written technical instructions
• Computer Literate (MS Office, Internet, Draughting software etc.)
• Valid driverxe2x80x99s license and passport
