De Beers Technology has operations in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa and is part of the De Beers Group. We deliver technical services and technology systems to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the De Beers Diamond value chain from exploration to diamond recovery. Activities include marine geophysical survey, sampling, mining, projects, engineering, technology development and maintenance. We provide specialized diamond processing and recovery technology for the De Beers Group Exploration and Mining Operations. We are the industry leader in marine mining practices resulting in the most successful and advanced marine mining equipment and operations globally.

We deliver technical services and technology systems to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the Group diamond value chain from exploration to diamond recovery. Activities include marine geophysical survey, sampling, mining, projects, engineering, technology development and maintenance.


The incumbent will be responsible to carry out repairs, inspections and service maintenance work on mechanical equipment.


Your role will include:


Participate during inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and company standards to report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Technician. Perform trade related maintenance and repair of industrial equipment and machinery according to quality maintenance requirements and good workmanship. Use, read and interpret all trade related drawings to execute mechanical and hydraulic fitment work according to organizational procedure. Train, guides, informs and generally counsels in matters of technical knowledge and trade skills, any learners or subordinate allocated to them. Builds relationships across the De Beers Pipeline by sharing appropriate business information and knowledge

Qualifications

-Formal qualifications:

MERSETA Trade Test Certificate (or equivalent) in one of the following: Hydraulics, Mechanical or Diesel Fitter.

Additional requirements:

At least 4 years post trade with at least 2 years preferably been in the hydraulic maintenance environment or in the medium to heavy industrial working environment. Use of precision measuring instruments
