Job Description
Key Outputs
- Assist a turner machinist / automotive machinist in minor repairs to salvageable iron at the machine shop to OEM standards and customer requirements while maintaining an orderly and safe workplace.
- Primary duties are to operate the sandblasting machine, drill and tap, grinding and cylinder head pressure test machine.
- Assist the artisans in performing moderate to complex maintenance and repair work on machines and / or components.

- Know which tools are used for which jobs and ensure the mechanic / technician has them within reach
- Physically lift, keep in place and / or move up to 20kg or use appropriate lifting and slinging equipment for objects larger in size
- Clean and maintain facilities and equipment
- Assist artisan to obtain and check parts for particular jobs
- Maintain a safe and orderly workplace
- Ad hoc Supervisor instructions
- Ad hoc artisan instructions
- Wrapping of Wip parts in inspection and assembly
- Matric or Equivalent
- Ability to obtain certification as forklift operator within 90 days of appointment
- Ability to obtain certification as overhead / jib crane operator within 90 days of appointment
- Ability to follow instructions under supervision
- Rotate between departments on an ad hoc basis
