Job Description

Job Purpose:

As a Material Handling Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and effective

transportation and storage of materials within the mining site. This role includes managing a team of

workers, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, coordinating with other departments, and optimizing

the use of resources and equipment.

Key responsibilities:

Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of material handlers and equipment operators. Conduct regular team meetings to discuss performance, safety, and operational improvements. Develop and implement training programs for staff on safe and efficient material handling procedures. Esure all material handling activities comply with safety standards and regulations. Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments. Report and address any safety hazards, incidents, or near-misses promptly. Coordinate the movement of materials within the mining site, including ore, waste, and other supplies. Develop and implement efficient material handling strategies to minimize delays and costs. Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure the availability of necessary materials. Oversee the maintenance and repair of material handling equipment such as conveyors, loaders, and trucks. Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule regular equipment inspections and maintenance. Ensure proper usage and operation of equipment to prevent breakdowns and extend lifespan. Collaborate with other departments, such as production, maintenance, and logistics, to ensure smooth operations. Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding operational status, challenges, and requirements. Prepare and present regular reports on material handling activities, performance metrics, and improvement plans. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance material handling efficiency. Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to material handling in mining.

Minimum requirements:

Diploma / degree in a related field. 5 years' experience in raw material handling within a mining or manufacturing environment. 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
