Job Summary:
Marine Claims Specialist
A leading insurance provider is seeking a Marine Claims Specialist to manage high-severity and complex marine claims with minimal supervision, while delivering a customer-focused, efficient, and compliant claims service.
Key Responsibilities:
Promptly handle and resolve marine claims, ensuring clear communication with customers and external contacts.
Develop claim strategies to assign reserves, conduct investigations, and engage appropriate suppliers.
Assess claims value using evidence and identify fraud or recovery opportunities.
Finalise claims within authority limits, ensuring optimal settlement outcomes.
Engage with reinsurers and global claims teams for high-value cases.
Ensure compliance with local regulations and governance throughout the claim lifecycle.
Follow customer-specific protocols and service charters to meet expectations.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degree qualification.
5+ years of marine or complex claims experience.
Strong technical knowledge of claims handling across various lines.
Deep understanding of legal liability, litigation processes, and industry standards.
Proven experience with complex coverage issues and working with expert consultants.
Skills & Competencies:
Customer-centric mindset with the ability to manage difficult claims.
Strong prioritisation and time management skills.
Flexible and adaptive to business change.
High-level understanding of interdependencies with functions such as Underwriting, Legal, Finance, and Reinsurance.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Internal:
Work closely with Claims, Underwriting, and other internal stakeholders.
External:
Liaise with customers, brokers, intermediaries, suppliers, and participate in customer meetings to support retention and proposition development.
