Procurement Officer

We are looking for an experienced, driven & self-motived individual to fill the position of procurement officer. This person will be responsible for sourcing & purchasing all materials required for projects. This position reports directly to the operations manager and is based at our head office in Paarl.


The successful candidate must have:

A Tertiary qualification + Grade 12 Mathematics 5 years + purchasing experience A technical understanding of metal fabrication would be an advantage Problem solving abilities, logical thinking Staff management experience Must have sound knowledge of MRP systems Must have advanced MS Excel skills Must have strong negotiating skills Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong team orientated approach

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Ensure project delivery dates and priorities are referenced to achieve on time delivery as per production planning. Responsible for sourcing all project requirements Continuous sourcing of new product innovations to address or complement Molenaar objectives Ensure supplier pricing is tested periodically Prevent and limit unnecessary supplier spending requests Ensure that suppliers are selected while considering cost, quality and reliability of product / service Ensure redundant orders are cancelled in the ERP system and with suppliers Develop and maintain adequate regular communication between management and lead engineers / floor managers Effectively communicate the status of orders to the lead engineers and management Identify and drive opportunities for supplier improvement for quality, faster delivery and better pricing Ensure Molenaar shelf stock lines have fixed pricelists valid for 6 months Ensure alternate suppliers are sourced and listed in supplier database for shelf stock & long lead time items Effectively manage and develop other staff within procurement department Perform annual supplier reviews / evaluations - develop a "Supplier Management Scorecard" Follow up and track supplier performance with regards to achieved lead times. Add cones to completed production trolleys each week. Follow up back orders Outsource machine shop parts when necessary. Manage all stock returns
