Job Description

Main purpose of the job:
a) Manage the legal services of the University, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and providing strategic legal advice
b) Manage the legal risk effectively and maintain legal compliance.
c)Implement and maintain the legal management strategy in accordance with all statutory and regulatory requirements; and
d)Manage the Legal Advisors and Administrators within the Legal Services Department to ensure that reliable, high-quality, timeous and effective legal services is rendered to the university's management and academic and support service departments.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Minimum Requirements:

  • LLB or equivalent legal qualification
  • Admitted attorney or advocate with 7 years' experience practising law and relevant legal experience in the private or public sector.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a higher education environment.
Recommended:
  • 3 years management experience.

  • Knowledge of King IV and governance principles
