Job Description


Type of Position: Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced candidates to fill the above vacancy in the Office of the MD & Administration - Legal & Compliance Department. and Responsibilities: xe2x80xa2 Supporting the NSO (National Sales Organisation) in all Legal matters, to find the most effective solutions for the business. xe2x80xa2 Drafting and finalising various commercial agreements including, but not limited to, goods/services being provided, sponsorships/trade exchanges, training, funding/grants, loans and sales. xe2x80xa2 Providing legal and business advice as well as support in order to ensure that the company's Organisational Directives are complied with and that the NSO complies with legislation relevant to the day-to-day operations. xe2x80xa2 Participating in specialist committees to promote synergies within the organisation and in relation to consultants on a pro-active basis. xe2x80xa2 Representing the company at the NAAMSA legal forum on matters of common interest, specifically new legislation, without competition law implications arising. xe2x80xa2 Overseeing and managing litigation / alternative dispute resolution proceedings initiated by or instituted against the company with support from external legal practitioners. xe2x80xa2 Supporting the Integrity, Risk and Compliance Department as and when necessary. xe2x80xa2 Identifying training requirements relevant to the various fields of law and Group directives and presenting the relevant training. xe2x80xa2 Ensuring that in all activities of the Legal & Compliance Division, its representatives act ethically to uphold and promote the reputation of the company in every respect. xe2x80xa2 Supporting Corporate & Government Affairs Department in relation to interactions with the authorities. xe2x80xa2 Remaining abreast of legal developments in general and specifically within the motor industry. Education and Experience: xe2x80xa2 Bachelor of Laws (LLB). xe2x80xa2 Postgraduate qualification in various fields of Commercial Law recommended. xe2x80xa2 Articles. xe2x80xa2 Admission as an Attorney/Advocate. xe2x80xa2 Minimum 8 -10 years' work experience in commercial law (post admission) or a minimum of 8 years relevant working experience, preferably in the automotive or related industries Skills, Attributes & Other requirements ESSENTIAL: xe2x80xa2 A good understanding of commercial and contract law in general, specifically the law in relation to Competition, Consumer Protection, B-BBEE, and Protection of Personal Information. xe2x80xa2 Knowledge of the legislative framework affecting the Motor Industry and Business in general. xe2x80xa2 Knowledge of Intellectual Property Legislation (e.g. Trade Mark, Copyright and Design) will be an advantage. xe2x80xa2 Good analytical and decision-making skills. xe2x80xa2 Good interpersonal and communication skills. xe2x80xa2 Ability to exercise independent judgment. xe2x80xa2 Ability to perform under pressure. xe2x80xa2 Ability to deal with cultural diversity. xe2x80xa2 Computer literacy.
