Job Purpose:
The Human Capital Manager ensures the efficient and compliant execution of all HC operations within AICC. This includes attracting and retaining critical skills, managing employee relations in a unionised environment, maintaining accurate workforce data, ensuring compliance with labour laws and company policies, and implementing corrective actions based on audit findings. The role also focuses on fostering a service-oriented HC culture to support business objectives and enhance employee engagement.
Key Job Outputs:
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain critical skills essential for the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle, ensuring alignment with workforce planning needs.
  • Partner with hiring managers to identify key competencies and develop targeted hiring strategies.
  • Oversee onboarding and integration processes to enhance new employee experience and retention.
  • Conduct Settling In interviews
  • Obtain sign-off on probation period conclusion
  • Prepare job descriptions for all jobs
Compliance & Labour Relations - In conjunction with ER Manager
  • Ensure adherence to labour laws, company policies, and industry regulations.
  • Actively manage employee relations, including handling disputes, grievances, and disciplinary actions.
  • Represent the company in union negotiations, disciplinary hearings, and at the Bargaining Council when required.
  • Ensure corrective actions from internal and external audits are implemented and monitored for effectiveness.
HR Operations & Workforce Data Management
  • Maintain and update employee master data to ensure accurate records for reporting and decision-making.
  • Oversee payroll-related HR processes to ensure timely and accurate execution in collaboration with payroll teams.
  • Generate and submit required HR reports to management and external bodies as per regulatory requirements.
Performance Management & Employee Engagement
  • Drive performance management processes, ensuring regular performance appraisals and development discussions where applicable
  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, morale, and workplace culture.
  • Partner with leadership to provide guidance on talent development and succession planning.
Learning & Development
  • Identify training needs and coordinate learning programs to enhance workforce capability.
  • Ensure alignment of training programs with regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Support leadership development programs to strengthen management skills across all levels.
Customer-Centric HC Delivery
  • Foster a service-oriented culture, ensuring HC solutions meet the needs of employees and managers effectively.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to management and staff on HC-related matters.
Requirements:
  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management or a related field (Essential).
  • Postgraduate qualification in HR or Labour Relations (Advantageous).
  • Certification in Labour Law, Industrial Relations, or Talent Management (Advantageous).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Capital Management, preferably in a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience in talent acquisition, workforce planning, and retention strategies, especially for scarce and critical skills.
  • Proven ability to manage HR operations, employee relations, and compliance with labour legislation.
  • Experience in a highly unionised environment with exposure to collective bargaining processes.
  • Hands-on experience with HR systems and data management, with proficiency in SAGE 300 (Advantageous).
  • Track record of successfully implementing corrective actions following internal and external audits.
  • In-depth knowledge of South African labour laws, BCEA, LRA, and company policies.
  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, its compliance requirements, and workforce challenges.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to represent the company in engagements at the Bargaining Council and other forums.
