These programmes include global best practice discovery, shared learning cluster networks, value chain strategy and execution, manufacturing performance diagnostics and improvement, skills development and SME Accelerators.

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will be running large local value chain (VC) development programmes for some of South Africa's most exciting retailers. As a leader and professional problem solver the succesful candidate will be supporting these retailers' local manufacturing growth strategies. Powered by robust data and project management principles, you'll be working with a wide range of stakeholders across the retail value chain: from buyers to product development centres and factories. The role requires strong communication skills, stakeholder engagement, business acumen and analytical capabilities.

:

• Identify, quantify and present opportunities for VC optimisation and localisation based on client needs, available data and global best practices.
• Facilitate multi-stakeholder, cross-functional engagements to present and evaluate these opportunities and explore potential interventions to realise them.
• Set projects up for success with SMART objectives, risk identification and robust monitoring & evaluation mechanisms.
• Delegate or execute chosen initiatives efficiently and effectively, whether it be facilitating a strategy session, modelling a business case, building a dashboard, optimising a process flow or researching global best practice.
• Analyse VC performance data in line with agreed VC objectives and interventions.
• Conceptualise, delegate and/or execute effective change management frameworks and processes to ensure commitment from a variety of busy stakeholders.
• Oversee programme budgets, resources and tasks to ensure smooth, impactful execution on time and within budget.
• Problem-solve in unstructured environments where the diagnosis and solution may not be clear and lateral thinking is required.

Requirements:

Essential:

• Honours or Masters degree in an analytical, at least partially quantitative, subject from a leading academic university
• At least 2 years of relevant experience
• Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills

Beneficial:

• Management consulting experience
• Experience working within retail value chains
• Recognised project management qualification, e.g. PMP, Agile, etc.

• You are socially adaptable - the ability and desire to engage with people from different socioeconomic backgrounds and in different environments, from boardroom to factory.
• You are an outgoing person with excellent language and communication skills - you have no problem picking up the phone and calling a stranger to move forward with a task.
• You have an intellectual curiosity, see yourself as a learner and find yourself reading and watching videos about topics that fascinate you.
• You are a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
