A manufacturing company based in Philippi East is looking for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to work at their facilities. The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for leading and coordinating all maintenance activities within the organisation's facilities. This role ensures the efficient operation, upkeep, and repair of equipment, systems, and infrastructure, while promoting a safe and productive work environment. The role requires extensive technical knowledge and involvement.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the daily tasks and activities of the maintenance team, including technicians and contractors.
Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems to identify and address maintenance needs or potential hazards.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance programmes to reduce downtime and extend the life of equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues promptly and efficiently.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, repairs, and equipment inventory.
Assist in the preparation of maintenance budgets and monitor expenditures.
Order and manage stock of spare parts, tools, and supplies as needed.
Train and mentor maintenance staff, promoting continuous improvement and professional development.
Respond to emergency maintenance requests after hours, as required.
Qualifications and Experience
National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Management (preferred).
Must be Red Seal approved
Minimum of 10 years' experience in a maintenance role, with at least 5 years in a supervisory position.
Must have experience with fitting and turning
Must have experience with PLC Troubleshooting
Strong technical knowledge of building systems, machinery, and maintenance best practices.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Must have experience working with Hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical
Excellent problem-solving and organisational abilities.
Familiarity with occupational health and safety regulations in South Africa.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Computer literacy, including maintenance management software and MS Office Suite.
