KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Responsible for troubleshooting and handling all mechanical equipment in the department to reduce downtime and ensure normal operation of mechanical equipment.

Ensure that the facility's mechanical installations comply with the required regulations.

Support the installation and assembly of new equipment.

Ensure equipment is in an adequate state of repair to ensure continuous repetitive quality products at the required cycle time

Ensure that the required lockout procedure is adhered to before any work on machines or equipment. The [Lockout system] describes the details of the process to ensure the safety of all.

Support with improvement activities when required

Perform any duties as requested and assigned by Maintenance Manager.

Must be flexible to work additional hours at short notice due to operational requirements

To undertake continuous improvement activities.

To continually promote company philosophies, policies and values. Ensure quality requirements are adhered to.

Take an active part in identifying and maintaining plant health and safety.

Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems from concept to production.

Use CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) to create 2D drawings and 3D models.

Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis (e.g., stress, thermal, FEA).

Support manufacturing and production teams by providing technical guidance and troubleshooting.

Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance product quality and process efficiency.

Conduct testing and validation of prototypes; analyze performance and recommend improvements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics qualification

Trade test certification (Artisan qualification advantageous

Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles

Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in the automotive industry (preferred)

COMPETENCIES:



Proficiency in CAD and engineering analysis tools

Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, thermodynamics, materials science, and manufacturing processes

Familiarity with mechanical safety standards, industry regulations, and maintenance practices

Project management and leadership experience will be an advantage

Flexible and willing to work additional hours at short notice when operationally required
