Oversee the maintenance and management of all plant utilities and facilities, including power distribution, energy systems, compressed air, cooling towers, fire protection, wastewater systems, HVAC, underground piping networks, roads, buildings, and other infrastructure
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including the OHS Act, ISO standards, SABS, and building regulations
Develop and update management procedures, technical standards, operating protocols, and maintenance schedules to ensure occupational health and safety compliance, risk assessments, and safety training
Conduct regular inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal plant functionality and reliability
Investigate and resolve utility and facility malfunctions, implement corrective and preventive measures, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Perform and supervise Medium/High Voltage Switching Operations (ORHVS), ensuring adherence to safety protocols and OHSACT requirements; conduct compliance audits on electrical switchgear operations
Install and commission electrical and automation equipment, including PLC/HMI programming, sensors, relays, VFD control circuits, and electrical schematics
Manage new construction and renovation projects, reviewing technical documentation, providing support, ensuring compliance with regulations, and overseeing end-to-end project delivery through to final acceptance
Lead energy management initiatives, including monitoring electricity, water, and gas usage; performing cost-benefit analyses; and driving conservation and sustainability programs
Provide input on sustainable energy solutions, government incentives, and efficient energy utilization strategies
Manage fixed assets and inventory, ensuring efficient spare parts and stock control.
Establish and monitor supplier and service provider performance to ensure quality outcomes.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and equipment security protocols across all subordinate teams
Maintain strong liaison with government agencies, municipal authorities, and the CDC
Perform other departmental and leadership-assigned tasks as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
National Diploma or BTech Electrical Engineering (or equivalent qualification)
7 years' experience in leading utilities and facilities within an automotive manufacturing plant or large- scale industrial environment
Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and compliance standards
Familiar with medium and high voltage circuits, energy systems, fire protection, piping systems, sewage and wastewater systems, compressed air systems, HVAC, cooling towers, extraction systems, machining process
Strong background in electrical operation and maintenance, including installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of field automation equipment
COMPETENCIES:
Proficiency in office automation software (e.g., MS Office Suite)
Strong technical and problem- solving abilities with a hand-on approach
Highly proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented with an optimistic outlook
Demonstrated leadership and team management skills in complex operational environments
