The core responsibilities and outcomes of the position include:
Execution of tasks required for Statutory compliance in terms of the OHS act.
Overseeing the day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities.
Ensuring resources are adequately planned and scheduled.
Managing of breakdowns and ensuring minimum downtime.
Ensure good quality work from direct reports with zero rework.
Planning daily/weekly activities for direct reports
Managing time and attendance and overtime in the area
Managing maintenance cost and spares throughout the department.
Managing a workspace with sound 5S and SHE principles
Coaching and mentoring of direct reports
Identifying training needs and skills requirements for direct reports
Must be able to Work at Height
The core requirements for the position include:
A Mechanical qualification or suitable equivalent
At least 10 years maintenance experience in a large manufacturing environment
Good communication skills
Proficiency in reading drawings
Experience in a managerial / supervisory role
Decisiveness coupled with good planning and organizing skills.
A strong technical aptitude and Industrial Relations knowledge
The ability to interface with people at all levels.
Proactive problem identification and solving skills.
An active user of the maintenance management system, Maximo.
Able to work standby and overtime.
