The successful incumbent will be responsible for the following:
To carry out all maintenance duties, such as changing of globes, repairs to plumbing, i.e. fix plugs, toilet seat covers etc. Tuning of TV sets, painting and carpentry repairs.
Ensure that the workshop is kept in a clean and orderly state and keep tools or any other working equipment clean and safe.
Ensure that all Health and Safety standards are adhered to.
Liaise with the GM, Maintenance Manager, Housekeeping as well as Reception about what Maintenance work is required for the day ahead and report back to the Maintenance Manager if you are unable to do any repair.
You will be required, from time to time, to do standby shifts (after hours - normally every second week for 7 days) as delegated by the General Manager. You will be remunerated for these hours, or time off will be granted in lieu as per mutual agreement.
You will be required to assist with the operating of the boilers/blowers at the ablution blocks. It will be your responsibility to get to understand the workings of the boilers and blowers, including the arrangements for servicing thereof.
Act fast to resolve emergency issues (e.g. power outages)
Find ways to reduce resort operating costs and conserve energy
Manage relationships with contractors and service providers
Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities
Ensure weekly that all vehicles are cleaned, fueled and in proper working order
Perform preventive maintenance in all chalets, ablution blocks, storerooms and public areas by performing routine maintenance around the resort, including, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical and painting by checking electrical and plumbing systems of buildings and resort in general to ensure functionality.

Recent work experience in a similar position
Must be service driven and a team player
Work accurately and safely under pressure
Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards guests and colleagues
Must be prepared to be on standby to work on weekends and after hours
Positive attitude, enthusiastic to learn
A valid driver's licence and own transport to get to and from work
A valid matric certificate and certified trade or skills qualification will be an advantage
