VACANCY
LOOM TUNER Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Loom Tuner that has arisen within the Weaving Department at Beier Envirotec in Pinetown. The Loom Tuner will report to the Weaving Coordinator and will have amongst others, the following duties and responsibilities: Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that predictive & preventive maintenance is effectively performed to minimise downtime & maintenance costs.
  • Attend to machine breakdown as quickly as possible to minimise downtime.
  • Ensure that safety standards are maintained & best practices followed when maintaining equipment.
  • Solve problems as they arise and ensure that any major problems have been communicated to the Weaving Manager ASAP.
  • Manage critical spares to minimise downtime due to equipment breakdown.
  • Fix damaged or warn part to be put back into production to save money on spares wherever possible.
  • Control all relevant tools & critical spares so that they are available when needed.
  • Manage maintenance expenditure (spares & contract work) in line with the budget.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards to prevent accidents or incidents.
  • Maintain documentation & records for traceability & analysis purposes.
  • Co-ordinate trials & give input to the development of new products to ensure that these are optimised from technical, cost & operability point of view.
  • Develop optimal setting & parameters for new product development to ensure a balance between quality, run-ability & cost.
  • Assess modifications or new equipment requirements to meet new product developments.
  • Provide feedback on the running of new articles and designs to complete the continual improvement loop.
  • Document all trials & development for records and reference purposes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to assist weavers, warpers & knotters with resolving technical issues.
  • Act as a mentor & coach to uplift people, improve motivation & provide life skills.
  • Facilitate performance management & Disciplinary processes.
  • Conduct training as &when required to ensure skills transfer & enable empowerment.
  • Identify potential & manage personal development goals.
  • Perform routine assessments & trade tests on apprentices & learners in the department throughout their training period.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Matric
  • Minimum N3 Textile Technology qualification
  • Qualified Loom Tuner with rapier loom (advantageous)
  • 3 yearsxe2x80x99 experience
