Logistics Manager

Our client, a key player in the mining and heavy industrial sector, is seeking an experienced

Logistics Manager

to lead and manage complex logistics and project logistics operations. Based in

Bryanston, Gauteng

this senior role is suited to a seasoned logistics professional with a strong track record in delivering large-scale, technically complex logistics solutions, including cross-border and project-based operations.

Minimum Requirements:

Relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management or a related field. Professional logistics or supply chain certifications will be advantageous. Minimum of

10 years' experience

in a Logistics Manager role within the mining, project logistics, or heavy industrial sectors. Proven experience managing complex, large-scale logistics and project cargo operations. Strong exposure to cross-border logistics, customs compliance, and multi-modal transport. Demonstrated experience in a senior leadership role managing logistics teams and external service providers.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Strategic & Operational Management

Lead and manage end-to-end logistics and project logistics operations supporting mining and industrial activities. Develop and implement logistics strategies aligned with business objectives, operational requirements, and project timelines. Oversee complex logistics activities, including abnormal loads, heavy-lift cargo, breakbulk, and multi-modal transport solutions. Ensure effective coordination between transporters, freight forwarders, customs agents, ports, warehouses, and project sites.

Project & Mining Logistics Execution

Plan and execute logistics solutions for mining operations and large-scale capital projects from initiation through to completion. Manage cross-border logistics activities, ensuring full compliance with customs, import/export regulations, and trade compliance requirements. Identify, assess, and mitigate operational and commercial risks through proactive planning and execution.

Leadership & People Management

Lead, mentor, and develop logistics teams, including managers, planners, and coordinators. Foster a high-performance culture with a strong emphasis on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Set performance objectives, conduct performance reviews, and support ongoing talent development within the logistics function.

Commercial, Financial & Contract Management

Manage logistics budgets, cost controls, and profitability across projects and ongoing operations. Negotiate contracts, rates, and service level agreements with logistics service providers and suppliers. Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to cost, service delivery, safety, and compliance.

Compliance, Risk & Stakeholder Management

Ensure full compliance with mining, transport, customs, and health & safety legislation and standards. Oversee risk assessments, method statements, and compliance documentation for all logistics operations. Act as a senior point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing regular operational updates and performance reporting.
