Safari Lodge Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lodge Operations Manager to join the leadership team of a luxury safari lodge in the Sabi Sand. This role will oversee all guest-facing and operational departments, ensuring the seamless delivery of world-class hospitality while driving efficiency, profitability, and team performance. As a senior leader, the Operations Manager will work closely with the General Manager, departmental heads, and support teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Oversee the daily performance of all lodge operations, including Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Guest Services, and Guides. Support and mentor Heads of Department (HODs) to meet operational, service, and financial goals. Act as second-in-command, assuming full responsibility in the General Manager's absence. Financial Management Collaborate with the Financial Controller to manage budgets, monitor revenue and costs, and implement effective cost-control measures. Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with policies and financial systems. Drive profitability while maintaining uncompromising guest experiences. Human Resources & Staff Development Partner with HR on recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management. Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture with a focus on staff growth and welfare. Ensure compliance with South African labour laws and lodge policies. Guest Experience Act as a senior point of contact for guest feedback, queries, and special requests. Lead by example in creating a warm, authentic, and world-class guest experience. Continuously refine offerings and service delivery to exceed expectations. Strategic & Administrative Contribute to the lodge's strategic planning and execution. Support reporting processes and ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are upheld across all areas. Represent the lodge professionally in audits, inspections, and stakeholder engagements. Candidate Profile Qualifications & Experience Minimum 5 years' experience in luxury lodge operations/senior management, ideally at 5? level Strong leadership track record managing multi-departmental teams. Financial acumen with experience in budgets, forecasting, and inventory control. Tertiary qualification in Hospitality Management (preferred). Skills & Attributes Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. Passion for exceptional guest service and luxury standards. Collaborative; adaptable, and hands-on leadership style. Knowledge of compliance, health & safety, and labour regulations.
