Cedar Wood Recruitment is now recruiting for our client in the Eastern Cape for a Lodge Manager Salary R 15 000-R 18 000 DOE Qualifications and experience required

  • Matric or Grade 12 certificate
  • Hospitality / Hotel / Lodge Management related qualification would be an advantage
  • 4 years’ experience in 5 star game lodges in the position of a senior lodge manager or greater
  • Valid Code 8 Driver’s license is essential
  • Live in position at the Family House is a non-negotiable
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance, both electrical and water supply
  • Extensive knowledge of cleaning and sharp eye for detail
Reports to: Assistant General Manager Outline of job role and purpose: Delivering an unforgettable experience for guests that will exceed all their expectations. Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
  • Warm welcome and check in of all guests
  • Guest management – coordinate daily activities and transfers for guests of all ages
  • Guest experiences guidelines; ensure all special needs and requests have been met
  • Hosting of all meals/guest events
  • Complete daily/weekly/monthly Admin duties including month end duties
  • Manage stock (operational and bar) through regular stock takes and maintaining stock controls
  • Weekly Financial and operational business reports to General Manager
  • Attend Weekly HOD Meeting
  • Management of staff – recruitment, induction, rosters, attendance, performance management, discipline, on the job training, team spirit, reward & recognition
  • Actively support Conservation and community initiatives and programs
  • Health & Safety – ensure lodge operates in safe manner at all times, ensuring the safety of guests and staff.
  • Management of lodge maintenance – reporting all issues and follow up
Outline of ideal candidate profile: Working as a Lodge Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the smooth running of the Lodge and all related activities. The candidate will require excellent hospitality skills and knowledge. Must be adept at dealing with guests of all walks of life and these competencies include the following requirements:
  • Personality

    • An outgoing, warm and friendly personality that is well presented
    • Positive attitude, Self-motivated, Confident and comfortable around people from all walks of life
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (listening skills, verbal communication etc)
    • Good sense of humour
  • Specific Job Skills
    • Excellent guest relations abilities (including Effective influencing and negotiation skills)
    • Excellent guest/staff/lodge management skills
    • Excellent knowledge of Food & Beverage, Housekeeping and Front Office
    • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Physical fitness to ensure you are able to work extended hours

    • High energy levels & drive to get things done
    • Planning & organizing – plan activities and carry them through effectively
    • Initiative to look for ways of improving
  • An appreciation of other cultures. Ability to speak and/or understand another language would be an advantage

    • Computer literate with excellent skills in Excel
    • Pastel and Semper or similar

    • Fluent in English (speak, read and write)
    • Excellent literacy skills (writing of emails, viewing web pages)
    • Excellent arithmetic skills (counting quantities, using percentages, understanding tables in reports and interpreting graphs)
