Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Loan Constultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in processing loan applications, disbursing loans, and managing debtor accounts within a bank or registered national credit provider. The Loan Consultant will be responsible for managing the loan repayment process, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely collections. Experience is important as we are a small team, therefore the candidate has to be a self starter and has to work independently from very early on.

Key Responsibilities:



Process and review loan applications to ensure they are complete, accurate, and meet compliance standards. Disburse loans accurately and on time according to the company's procedures and policies. Maintain and update debtor accounts by recording loan transactions, repayments, and adjustments. Monitor and track overdue loan accounts and initiate the collection process, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Prepare and send out statements, invoices, and reminders to clients for overdue loans. Maintain detailed records of loan repayments and debt collection efforts. Provide administrative support to the finance team and ensure all loan documentation is stored securely and up-to-date. Reconcile discrepancies and investigate issues related to debtors and loan payments. Assist with the preparation of financial reports, including aging reports and collections forecasts. Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., credit control, risk, and legal) to resolve complex debtor issues. Handle queries from clients regarding loan repayments, account balances, and related matters.

Key Requirements:



Proven experience as a Debtors Clerk/Loan Consultant or similar role, preferably within a bank or registered national credit provider. Strong understanding of loan application processes, disbursement, and debtor management on NuPay/Webfin or similar softwares. Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance within the credit industry. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills. Proficiency in financial software and MS Office (Excel, Word). Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with clients and internal teams effectively. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. A proactive approach to problem-solving and managing difficult accounts. National Diploma in Accounting/Bachelors Degree in Accounting ;

Desirable Attributes:



Experience working with financial systems such as NuPay and Webfin. Strong analytical skills with the ability to spot discrepancies and address them promptly. Knowledge of debt collection laws and practices in South Africa or relevant jurisdictions.
