About the Role
A reputable niche law firm with offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban is seeking a highly skilled Litigation Associate Director to join its Johannesburg office. They are looking for a self-starter, a strong leader, and a seasoned legal professional capable of working independently with minimal supervision while managing complex legal matters and engaging key clients.
Key Performance Areas
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in:
Commercial litigation
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
Administrative law, insolvency law, and business rescue law
Tax law litigation
General civil litigation
Conducting investigations and drafting detailed legal reports
Working with public and private sector clients
Delivering high-quality, accurate legal work under pressure
Professional client engagement and critical legal analysis
Managing complex legal matters independently
Applying strong business acumen and translating legal risk into strategic business decisions
Minimum Requirements
Admitted Attorney with a valid practising certificate
Minimum 9+ years PQE
Right of Appearance in the High Court
Demonstrated leadership and management capability
Highly organised with exceptional follow-through abilities
Passion for developing junior legal professionals
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and proactive mindset
Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and manage heavy workloads
Flexibility to work beyond standard business hours when required
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals
Comfortable working in a culturally diverse environment
Strong capability to review and interpret complex legal documents under strict deadlines
