Job Description


Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Matric.
  • Min 2 to 3 years legal experience in a similar role.
Know-How Job related Skills:
  • Understanding of quality standards.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of basic numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
Responsibilities:
  • Research legal topics and update library materials to ensure that they are relevant and accurate.
  • Collaborate with professional staff to establish and maintain databases of case law, legislation, and other legal materials.
  • Assist in the organisation of legal materials.
  • Provide reference services to Partners and professional staff.
  • Maintain reference databases, including updating them with new information as it becomes available, and facilitate the ordering process of new books.
  • Update and maintain all loose-leaf publications.
  • Provide research assistance to professional staff by helping them locate legal precedents and other information about cases.
  • Keep records of library materials and services that have been requested.
  • Schedule training sessions with the Trainers from the various service providers, for use of their respective platforms.
  • Responsible for the training of Candidate Attorneys on the use of library resources, research methods and online legal research platforms and conduct refresher trainings where necessary.
  • Conduct and gather research on the following research platforms JUTASTAT Online, MyLexisNexis, Sabinet and Windeed.
  • Ensure that Partners and professional staff members are up-to-date with the current information by distributing Newsletters and journals daily.
  • Keep abreast of relevant legislation and amendments thereof.
  • Create supportive relationships with colleagues.
  • Demonstrate willingness and ability to perform to the very best to ensure personal alignment to the company's values and vision.
