-The purpose of this role is to deliver tenure and permitting advice to the Anglo American Group in South Africa to meet and deliver swiftly on the business objectives of clients. As a Legal Specialist: Tenure and Permitting Law SA your responsibilities will include:

• Proactively conduct the provision of all tenure and permitting advice to the Anglo American Group in South Africa
• Manage client relationships with key internal stakeholders in relation to tenure and permitting matters for the Anglo American Group in South Africa
• Advise the Anglo American Group on tenure and permitting legal issues that affect the execution of its business strategy
• Assess and provide suggestions for improvement to Group Legalxe2x80x99s systems, procedures and strategies for managing legal risks in relation to permitting transactions and relationships
• Identify and implement risk mitigating initiatives
• Identify and communicate changes to permitting laws affecting the Anglo American Group in South Africa
• Adequately and timeously conduct reporting obligations in relation to permitting (both internally and externally) strictly in accordance with Group Legal policies and guidelines

Qualifications

• -Graduate & admitted as a lawyer in the relevant jurisdiction

Experience

• Broad understanding of SA law, with mining industry experience and knowledge of mining law useful but not essential
• Commercial understanding of consequences of legal scenarios/decisions
• Knowledge of civil law, commercial law and company law, with knowledge of relevant specialist areas such as environmental, employment and social security law useful but not essential
• Property law and leases
• Strong technical ability as a lawyer, including precise drafting skills and attention to detail
• Organisational, transaction management, interpersonal, leadership, analytical, technical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrate excellent legal drafting skills
