A well-established boutique law firm based in Illovo, Sandton is seeking an experienced and well-spoken Legal Secretary to provide comprehensive secretarial, administrative, and reception support to the legal team. The successful candidate must be highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced legal environment. Start Date as soon as possible
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The role includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Providing full legal secretarial and administrative support to attorneys
Drafting, formatting, proofreading, and typing legal correspondence and documents
Managing filing and archiving systems, both electronic and hard copy, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with firm policies
Capturing, saving, scanning, indexing, retrieving, and organising legal documents and email correspondence
Maintaining accurate legal billing, including capturing fees and disbursements on AGS billing system or similar legal billing software
Managing diaries, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings
Liaising with clients, counsel, sheriffs, and other external stakeholders
Assisting with court filings, document bundles, and general litigation support (where required)
Monitoring deadlines and ensuring compliance with court and client timelines
Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence and courier arrangements
Providing general office support and assisting with ad hoc administrative tasks
Assisting with reception duties, including answering calls, receiving clients, and handling general enquiries professionally
Willingness to work flexible hours when required by operational demands
Minimum Requirements
Matriculation certificate / Paralegal Certificate or Diploma or equivalent is advantageous
Minimum 4 years' experience as a Legal Secretary within a law firm
Strong command of the English language (reading, writing, spelling, and verbal communication)
Advanced computer literacy, including MS Word, Outlook, and document management systems
Proven experience with legal billing systems (AGS or similar)
High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
Strong organisational and time management skills
Own reliable transportation
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
