Legal / Litigation Secretary

Job Description

A well established Firm based in Pretoria, requires a Legal/Litigation Secretary.
DUTIES:
Legal Document Management

  • Draft, edit, and format pleadings, motions, affidavits, subpoenas, and briefs
  • Prepare discovery documents and trial bundles
  • Ensure compliance with court formatting and submission standards
Court Filing & Scheduling
  • File legal documents with courts (including electronic filing for High Court and Magistrates Court)
  • Maintain litigation calendars, track deadlines, schedule hearings, depositions, and mediations
Attorney & Client Support
  • Liaise with clients, counsel, and court officials professionally and confidentially
  • Coordinate meetings, manage correspondence, and relay case updates
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation and logistics
Case Administration
  • Organize and maintain case files (physical and digital) - with help from the Attorney
  • Conduct preliminary legal and compile supporting documentation if instructed to so
  • Monitor case progress and update internal systems
Office & Team Coordination
  • Manage diaries, answer calls, and coordinate internal communications
  • Handle billing, timesheets, and expense tracking
  • Support procurement of legal supplies and office resources - Only when necessary, when the current lady may off or sick etc.)
REQUIRMENTS:
  • 3 years experience
  • Knowledge of Case-line and court online
  • Extremely well groomed, and professional
  • English and Afrikaans speaking
