Job Requirements
For appointment at Lecturer level
Academic route:
A Master of Laws (LLM) degree.
Minimum of two (2) years' teaching experience at tertiary level.
Professional route:
A Master of Laws (LLM) degree.
At least five (5) years of post-admission legal practice.
Must be an admitted attorney or advocate, having completed pupillage or practical legal training.
Duties
Deliver undergraduate instruction in at least two of the following modules:
Jurisprudence, Legal Communication Skills, Interpretation of Statutes, Constitutional Law, Civil Procedure, Criminal Procedure, Human Rights Law, Legal Research Methodology, Administrative Law, Public International Law, Criminal Law.
Actively contribute to departmental and school activities, including committee participation.
Conduct scholarly research and supervise postgraduate students.
Coordinate academic programmes, contribute to curriculum development, build partnerships with other institutions and community organizations, and participate in community engagement initiatives.
For appointment as a Junior Lecturer
An LLB degree.
Registration for a Master's degree in Public Law will be considered an advantage.
Duties:
Teach undergraduate modules in at least two of the following areas:
Jurisprudence, Legal Communication Skills, Interpretation of Statutes, Constitutional Law, Civil Procedure, Criminal Procedure, Human Rights Law, Legal Research Methodology, Administrative Law, Public International Law, Criminal Law.
