Lecture and assess contact learning students in the higher certificate in preschool education and bachelor's in education foundation phase teaching programmes, with particular emphasis on early years education in the following modules:
Classroom practice CRP102
Early childhood development studies ECD101
Grade R teaching GRT101
Health education in early childhood development HEA102
Practical management of an early childhood development centre MAN102
Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials.
Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
Participate in relevant programme, curriculum, and material development.
Carry out allocated internal moderation responsibilities.
Carry out invigilation of venue-based assessments as reasonably required by the campus registrar's (CRs) office.
Participate in school-based teaching practice assessments.
Provide academic support to students.
Complete all quality assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
Participate in research and community engagement projects.
Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
Fulfill functions on relevant committees, and in meetings and workshops as reasonably requested by management.
Fulfill all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirements
At least 3 years of teaching and /or lecturing experience in early childhood education and/or foundation phase.
Must have a relevant teaching qualification.
Knowledge and understanding of the diverse subject matter, as well as work-based learning (teaching practice).
Experience in online teaching and learning environments.
Prior experience teaching and learning in a HEI is preferable.
Qualification:
Minimum b achelor of education honours or equivalent qualification with relevant study in early childhood education and/or foundation phase.
Skills and abilities required
Sound teaching and assessment skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational, time management, and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to cope with change.
Willingness to work when required on Saturdays.
