Duties/Pligte



Teaching and administration of undergraduate chemical engineering modules. Executing fundamental and applied research, focused on broadening the Department's research activities in current areas of interest to the Department of Chemical Engineering. Supervision of final year research projects as well as postgraduate researchers in one of the research areas listed in the description above. Technology transfer to the industry and broader community. Performing support, administrative and representative roles in the Department.



Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
An applicable, four-year bachelor's degree (such as BEng or BScEng) in Chemical Engineering from a reputable university, recognised by the Engineering Council of South Africa to qualify for

registration as a Professional Engineer.A doctoral degree in chemical engineering from a reputable university, with a research topic related to areas of relevance to the Department of Chemical Engineering. An excellent academic track-record. The ability to teach courses and modules as part of a typical undergraduate chemical engineering programme. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in at least English, with a good ability to communicate clearly and to present lectures in a structured manner. Good interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to work effectively, independently as well as within a team. Previous tertiary teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, or technical / research experience in industry in a relevant field of expertise.



Recommendation/Aanbeveling
An established research record in the field of separations technology. Registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA. Evidence of research outputs such as published peer-reviewed journal articles. * An NRF rating as a young researcher.
